Eric Tiu aka Discus...
been keeping fish since grade school days and i started my discus adventure in 1993 and ended my short eventful adventure in 1995. Discus bug bitten me again in year 2000 and had been afflicted with the virus up to the present.
my wish is to introduce to hobbyist this beautiful fish and to let them know that its not that hard to keep and breed discus....
discus keeping might not make me a millionare but the joy and camaraderie i got from hobbyist is more than enough to keep me going....
happy discus keeping my friend!!!

Hello! Im Mark Mendez aka water_changer It seems that Discus popularity is getting stronger again here in the Philippines, I noticed it whenever i open palhs.
I used to take care and breed this majestic fish back then when i still have spare time to do all this fish demands. I got my stock from Marivi Laurel back then and some from the late kiss the fish petshop. I received all my training on how to care of this to owner of the wine shop at wilsons (just next door of kiss the fish) hehehehe. Also used to prepare my own beefheart mix!
Good news is, i do have a spare time again to meet all the demands of this fish. Bad news is Marivi is into saltwater fishes now at least from what i've heard???? But I do get some Discus from a friend that bought some of my stocks back then. i have a total of 8 dicus right now and i'm planning to add 4 more probably some snow whites, checker or blue diamonds. Well i guess i'm officially back!

Alvin Capistrano aka Albino Discus...
I was into fish hobby since high school but I stopped when i went to college. After so many years, I was struck by the discus fever again early this year and got addicted ever since. My son Juan was the one who introduced me to this hobby. Discus keeping is very demanding and challeging but enjoyable. Your stress level will really go down.
I'm still very new in the hobby and learning fast. I hope to breed some discus in the near future. I don't just enjoy the hobby but the friends I make as well.
To all my friends, happy discus keeping....

I'm Gerry Antonio, a proud 3rd generation Dabawenyo. :D
Discus was one of my frustrations in not being able to breed in large numbers. Was only able to breed a Pigeon blood crossed with a Blue Torquiose. But parents ate them. It was a frustration after 7 years of error and error method.
Might as well try again, but this time guided by those who were successful.

Mabuhay! Karlo Magpayo aka Karlo. Like most fishkeeping began when distant memories of a kid lingers between the relation of a father and a son. My dad introduced me to fishes as a way of hiding a horrible cracked wall! Those days are gone and I have relagated myself to owning and caring for pets in general. At one time, i have kept 15 Labradors, 2 African Cichlid Tanks, 24 birds, 2 cats and 2 pairs of rabbits. During those days, Labradors were my passion and have breed sold and shared Champions but due to space and financial concerns I had to let them all go. I have tried keeping Discus in the 90's but success wasnt with me. Presently, my Frontosas have given be the best stress buster with plans on keeping Discus again-this time older ones to lessen back pains caused by water changes.

Hi, Daniel Roco Villasenor, Born in Naga City in Bicol. My mother immigrated to the US in 1966 and we followed in 1970. I was 9 years old then.
I started keeping fish in general since elementary. I always admired discus since I can remember. I just couldn't afford them. Bought my first group of Discus called German Brilliants in 1993. I been hooked ever since. I started breeding them and was suuccessful enough to sell the juvenilles to fishstore and other hobbyist to pay for the hobby. At one time I had over 15 breeding pairs and was not enough to supply the demand from hobbyist and fishstores. The time to grow them out and the space needed was too much for one person.
I started to import discus in 2001 to supply the demand and to be able to get the newest and latest strains.
I'm also into planted tank. I belong to a group of planted fanatics called NASH (Nature Aquarium Society of Houston) This group takes their inspirations from Amano Takashi where a planted tank is more of an art form. I'm always trying to find a balance of a planted tank with Discus.
I'm happy to be able to provide help to anyone willing to venture into this hobby. When I started keeping discus, everything was a secret. No one wanted to share their experience and success.
I have over 50 tanks and looking to expand. I hope to open up a retail store not only to provide tropical fish but aquarium installation and maintenance, and siminars to educate newbies into the hobby.
My next challenge is to learn to keep Marine tank. hahahha

Hello I am Dexter Tsai Chung now turning into a super discus freak. My father introduced me to fish keeping since he and his brothers were also fish hobbyists. Eversince i was a small boy I have been at anything around Water and the SEA.
When i was around 10 years old.I was able to breed common Siamese fighting fish. It was with the help of books and TFH magazines that i found at my grandparents house owned by my pops bro's.
I started with discus during my college days around 1998 . I started with a sole custome made 35 gallons. During that time my moms bro gave me 4 turquoise discus from his bro in law who could breed discsus . Gradually as i had spare allowance i was able to buy other strains of discus like pigeons... and other strains sold very cheap by my classmate since he couldnt maintain with our college hobby.
At the beginning i got to hasty with medicines when there were bad signs on my discus. But with both good and bad experience I was able to raise some to big sizes.
1998 were times were there were still some discus shops that specialized in quality discus
Like Aquarium habitat and my cousin's venture , a petshop at banawe cor. Atok specializing in import Exotic fish. I was just a window shopper then, since I did not have enough budget to buy quality fish and i was a person that never asks parents for money.
I was stop and go with my discus hobby. Especially when i left to study at China. I dont know but i even reached and trained Shaolin Kungfu at the Shaolin Temple in Henan for quite some time.
Im the crazy guy with the stick
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u237/dexchung/16809254820441l.jpg
Everytime i left my fish start to breed and i had to give alot of instructions to the house helpers. When i returned during vacation I ended up selling everything.
Nov 2004 i restarted with discus.
2005 I tried my first import and everytime i go abroad i always looked for petshops and tried to bring home fish.
2007 is another beginning. My theme "Discus with a Vengeance"

Hello to all discus addicts. I'm Boniface W. Lan, friends call me boni. Started my 1st discus keeping way back 2001, when my sister told me sa tapat ng CKSC meron ape who's selling blue turquoise. I was love at first sight. Started with 30 discus, di ko pa hobby magwaterchange, it only lasted I think 6 months. But the said incident did not stop me from trying again. Until last year February 2006, started again with several week old frys and join the group. The rest are history.

Hi I'm Raymund "Mon" Ramos, aka Oxyman
Started with flowerhorn, then arowana, now discus. Mga 1 week pa lang ako sa discus. Learning a lot.
Actually I just wanted to test some water purification and oxygenation equipment with the discus kaya kumuha ako ng isa sa Sam's Lagoon. When I learned na dapat pala madami sila, that's when I said to myself na I'm getting hooked one way or the other. Alam nyo this morning, I found myself moving some of my fish out of my 75 gallon tank...

More than 6 years ago, after deciding to stop marine tanks. I switched to fw and Discus was my first fw fish. I had a 75g with 6 or so discus that I bought at Marivi Laurel's former fish shop at Wilson ave., SJ. They were expensive as one small discus sometimes cost P1k+. I didn't change water as often as I should but some of the dominant fish grew to a good size. I then went to fh and aros. Here's my discus tank right now...

Hi. I'm Ed Tan from Vancouver,BC,Canada. My interest in the Fishkeeping Hobby started in the Philippines when I was in 6th grade. My passion for this hobby is endless, I think I've experienced keeping almost all the popular type of fish...Livebearers,Goldfish,Koi,Discus & other cichlids,Arowanas, saltwater and a lot more. But since 1999, my interest shifted to Planted tanks. At present, I design and maintain Planted tanks as a business here in Vancouver,BC. I have also renewed my interest in Discus. Just recently,I acquired 5 beautiful Heckel Discus which I put in my Planted tank for display. Hopefully,I will be able to setup a reef tank in the coming days.

Hello! I'm Mandy Bautista...newbie palang sa "Discus World" , started my fishkeeping hobby 1998 my first set up was a saltwater aquarium...very fascinating kasi mga fishes and corals, that's why my handle name is "Dam(n)-sel Fish"..loves ko kasi itong isadang ito very strong ang color nya hehehehe but my love and devotion to saltwater lasted only for 2-3 yrs. Yr. 2000 i was hooked up with Tamiya mini 4-wd so napabayaan ko ang fishkeeping and sad to say up to now im still playing/racing the Tamiya Mini-4WD at Festival Mall:D i belong to the Team Komodo Dragon(TKD) - majority of my team-mates are from Cavite area. Yr. 2005 i've started again my fishkeeping hobby this time flowerhorn naman...but unfortunately nagsawa ako sa flowerhorn coz pagmalaki na kasi flowerhorn hanggang doon nalang sila hihihihihi:D
At present my passion for fishkeeping is "UP" again....i like colorful fishes and Discus can provide variety of strains with very impressive physical appearances...kaya im sure mag eenjoy ako sa Discus...
...at mag eenjoy din ang Maynilad at Manila Water dahil lalaki income nila sa mga adik sa waterchange hihihihihihi....:D

Hi to all discus fanatics...Hi im Paulo Carandang a proud Batangueno...
pero i recently stay here sa novaliches because of my studies...
i've been to fish keeping since i was a high shcool student back then...my first fishes are fancy tailed guppies and goldfishes..hehehe... kasi trend sa batangas that time na kapag meron kang aquarium eh big time family kayo...
pero that time din wala me paki kung meron o wala deal ang mag aquarium nun.. im just keeping fishes that time for the hobby not the aesthetic(payaman effect) purposes..hehehe
when i was in third year high school i've been stung by the aro virus..i've bought 3 50'gal tanks that time..taking care of jardini, malaysian gold and silver aro...
when i was in may college years i've been into flowerhorns..especially those original strains like blue and red dragon, SRS, EM,.. upto now meron parin me 2 flowerhorns but thay stay na in batangas...
before finishing my college degree.. naka balik me ulit sa fancy guppies pero yung paring cheaper strains...
ngayon nasa second degree na me of my studies nadale me ng discus virus...patingin tingin lang naman me sa palhs site... then na enganyo me ng lalong dumadami na discus hobbyist dito sa palhs...
first batch of discus ko ay 2 blue turq, 1 leopard SS, 1 blue diamond, 1 marlboro...
pero 4 out of 5 died because of a heater accident....pero this accident wouldnt take me away form this hobby...lalo na nung nakita ko buhay paring ang aking marlboro kahit umabot pala ng 42C ang init ng tubig ko..sabi ko na lang sa sarili ko this is a sign na hindi ko dapat iwan ang hobby...
recently i've just acquired 3 pigeon blood and 2 snakeskin discus...and im planning to magdagdag pa ng stock...sana this is the start of further blooming of the discus hobby here in the philippines...

parang buong buhay ko na ang naikwento ko dito sa thread ahh...
oliver firmalino here aka wakz(my sons nickname) ive been in the fish hobby for almost 6years , started with flowerhorn(until now addict parin), then goldfish ,cichlids, arowana then recently discus(really a fever now). i started buying my stocks from well known fish importer here in manila (all breeds are from thai) kaya medyo mahirap talaga e kondisyon, not to mention they are hormoned, hindi pa maganda shape ng katawan, but recently got a new exporter from indonesia, a bit expensive than thai but quality , i could compare it to malaysia etc.. discus-keeping pushes me to be more focused in keeping my water quality clean in all my tanks, medyo maasikaso lang but worth it talaga. my goals is to breed quality discus someday so filipinos could also afford to own one at hindi lang puro import na sobrang mahal... go discus!!

Am Ronald Demegillo aka demzz. I've been into aquarium hobby eversince am an elementary student... started with discus when i reached high school... (malaki-laki na kasi allowance). I was able to breed once however, its unfortunate that i have to give them a way for some reason. Just a year ago, balik ulit ako discus keeping nung binigyan ako ng friend ko ng dalawang discus... yun, hanggang ngayon discus pa rin guess you just can't get away with that discus bug.;)
Happy discus keeping to everyone!
Jerico Earl Anton Bonzon, 17. Jex for short. Influenced by my late grandfather in the fish hobby when I was, I guess, 10 years old and until now I still enjoy the benefits of a fish hobbyist, the enjoyment, the excitement, the thrill and the relaxation one gets from our dear fishy Friends. I started out keeping livebearers, then ventured out with oscars - to goldfishes ang cichlids until I arrive with the ever famous flowerhorn back then when I discovered this website. It was until recently that I was able to aquire four specimens of this so called Discus which I have longed for, years ago. Before, being so innocent and young, I bought a discus and mixed it with my cichlid tank. The poor fish lasted for 2 days I guess, and I admit my mistake. It took me almost three years to get back in Discus keeping again and this time, I made use of my Grandfather's old Tank which I receved as a "Pamana" from him for he died December last year. It was a happy thing for me to use the tank of a man who passed on to me this hobby with the fish I cherished more than others. Although I am a neophyte in Discus keeping, I am excited to learn more about Discus and this hobby. Hope you can help me. :D Regards!
Animo Discus! haha!

Jojo a.ka. ManilaByNight here. A native of Cagayan de Oro and Cebu with friends and relatives scattered in CDO, Cebu, Iligan and Davao but I practically grew up in Quezon City.
I got started with fishes when I was still in my early Elementary school 'coz my mom was into it as a hobby and I helped her maintain them. Later, I started my own aquarium which was marine and I kept exotic fishes like seahorses, clown fishes and the like. Aquarium technology wasn't so high-tech and up-to-date then so eventually I had to give up maintaining marine fishes.
I then got hooked into the orchid plant breeding thing and I had collections of very beautiful, rare and award-winning orchid plants. I had student-friends who were experts in their field from UPLB and who are now "big-shots" in the orchid and plant businesses in the Philippines.
Then the inevitable came and my parents passed away and the Philippine economy was going really bad so I suddenly had to fend for my own and I set aside the fish and plant hobby aside and concentrate on my work and career.
I eventually was able to buy my own humble and modest townhouse in Q.C. and moved in 2 years ago. I later found it dry and unrelaxing since it is an all-concrete townhouse which is a far cry from my ancestral house which was HUGE and ROOMY and had PLENTY of garden, fresh air and sunlight. I thought that I'd better start interior decorating to make my place more relaxing, stress-free and homely so I started furnishing with plants (of course my expertise was orchids so I slowly filling it with orchid plants) and to make the atmosphere feel cooler and relaxing, I got two second-hand aquarium complete set-ups. Initially, I didn't want to keep big fish like arowanas or flowerhorns kasi of the thought that I might have to change the size of my tank later and mamomoblema pa ako. I also wanted something that was schooling and colorful para masaya. I am not attracted to flowerhorns in spite of their color 'coz majority of them are solitary fishes - masyado malungkot - plus yung big bulge on their heads which I get turned off at. So I started off with the brightly colored tetras .... but later I just found them too small so a friend and office co-worker of mine advised me to go marine but I said freshwater ako kasi I find the equipment and maintenance of marine aqua expensive. He advised me to try cichlids but I find them matatapang and territorial and I had some exisiting tetras already - baka kainin lang ng mga cichlids. Then I spoke to one of the fish store owners in cartimar who suggested discus although maselang nga daw kasi kailangan daw ng clean water all the time. Funny, but there was something in the discus by staring and looking at them sa shop niya that attracted me - though they were just small (2.5 inch juveniles) and they were not even brightly colored pa. I must have thrown caution aside and got 3 (yes three!) assorted ones.
Now, I'm stuck with them but the more I learn about them through the internet and having to see the photos of the discus of the members here - the more I am drawn to them. Geesh! Just my luck and I don't have enough space in my townhouse for a big aquarium!
Anyway, just introducing myself to you guys here ......
And oh, by the way, I'm a fish myself .... or rather a piscean (but don't know how to swim! Hahahaha!)

Wow.. tulala lang ako dun sa aquarium for hours..hehehe...:) My mistake was I only got one and I read that they would be better off in a group. Does anybody know where I could buy some nice quality discus (yung medyo cheap ha..;) ) ...? I kinda spent it all out for the heater and aquarium...oh well sa next na sweldo sana..:p Hoping to be an active member in the near future..:)

Lawrence Tan, been into fish keeping on and off for a while now and have been a frustrated discus keeper 3 years ago. Got started fish keeping again last november when a friend of my brother gave us an arowana. From that and searching the internet we found the Palhs website while looking for info about arowanas. And one day i made the mistake of clicking on GulfCoastDiscus' post about all his discus and was instantly hooked again. Took me a while to get the courage to buy the fish again since i didnt want to see them all dying on me again. Buti nalang meron threads about keeping discus, asa "WATER-CHANGE" lang pala ang secret to being successful. So now i have 12 baby discus in a 20gal grow out tank from DXcus they're all doin well and sobrang takaw (and of course looking to acquire more) .
Hoping to join in on some of the activities of the discus club here so as gain more knowledge in discus keeping!

hi guys i'm lady elizabeth, i formerly owned a few discus, unfortunately the water supply in our area had a problem because some people would tap the water sources illegally, causing the paying citizen headaches.water coming out of the faucet smells like sewers, we hadn't had water for 2 weeks straight and our petfish suffered badly.. no water for wc.. what a nightmare.. now that everything with nawasa are fixed and we have our wholeday supply of clean water again.. i'm planning to buy a few discus for my 50gal tank.. anyway here's a post of my old friends.. i have to sell them cause they would die in my house when there's no clean water, anyway newbie pa ko nito mga 2 years ago.. di ko pa diyan naaral lahat pati yung plants and substrate luckily strong yung mga discus at lumaki naman kaso kailangan iout na dahil sa walang water

i've been a discus keeper for a few years now. my first batches were from eric himself and bought more than a dozen. glad to say they're prolific egg-layers. unfortunately i've been a bit busy to monitor the eggs and they end up being eaten. space has also been a constraint in my place hence i couldn't separate my breeding pairs. i did get a few fries as well but again, they get eaten.
anyways, it's nice to know there are more discus people around. i do plan to buy more fries ;)

Ako naman po si PETER GERARD ALEXANDER QUEMADA "ALEX" or Axel nalang for short.. laki ng problema ng magulang ko galit yata sa akin. Profile ko nasa Hobbyist page nalang. Working in Qatar and if you want full photos from isda ko to family to my BAND where I am drummer too..hehe aside from Cook, father of 4 kids...nasa friendster lang po. gerard.alexandre@hotmail.com (also aka MACHETE ng Banko sa Qatar and DAvao City). DAvao Born- Bisayang Batangueno-Caviteno. Eto nalang po photo ko :
http://pic70.picturetrail.com/VOL1859/8654830/16042070/245660904.jpg

Hello, Im Jeremy from manila.
I wanted to start a hobby in keeping freshwater fish and DISCUS caught my fascination instantly. Right now I already have 10 (2-3 inches) discus and 2 clown loaches in my 20 gallon tank. 2 weeks ko pa lang sila inaalagaan. I have read a few lessons for beginners like me about discus care, compatible tanksmates and putting up the ideal setup for their crib. For now im feeding them 3 times a day with frozen bloodworms and tetra bits alternately. I have put up a water heater inside the crib and changes the water (about 20%) almost everyday. I hope i can get all the advice i need from u guys to keep my discus in best condition all the time. Thanks in advance and hope to see your discus collection also soon.

hello to all adik sa WC! sali na po ako dito, I'm Marvin, mga 11 years nakong nang aalaga ng fresh water fish, Arowana, Tiger and Frontosa adik and soon tobe Discus adik hehehe.
thanks and nice meeting you all.

Hi to all the masters & bros! im a newbie. Naka attend na ako nung 5th EB. Dami ko nalaman sa pag keep ng Discus. 5 yrs pa lang ako nag iisda. Although nung bata pa'ko, i remember nag-aalaga ako ng martiniko (tama ba?) and fighting fish also known as betta. 5 yrs ago, i acquired a single betta and kept for almost a year. Then i'd decided to keep a marine tank, tapos FH na. The FH change my world of fish keeping...hehehe! untill i found my 5 discus sa last EB ng Discus...hehehe!
wait...5 years na ako nag-iisda and then 5 na discus ang nakuha ko....hey! there's a connection!!! hahaha! :D
like i told to sir Boy, parang feeling ko ngayon pa lang ako nag-iisda. Na-eexcite ako dito sa Discus. :D

Welcome to Discus world sir Paolo, there are many factors why your first attempt in discus keeping was not very successful. You may refer to the sticky thread "discus keeping for beginners" before you purchase your next set of discus. I read in an article before that in a group of discus, it is inevitable that one fish will be at the bottom of the pecking order. This fish will eventually turn out to be the runt of the group, getting less food. The fish should not be removed but rather allowed to remain in the tank or else another may take it's place. I think it's goes the same with bullies. If you remove the bully in the group, another one may take it's place. Good luck sir!

Hi Guys,
I just joined today. I have been an aquarium enthusiast for 10 years already. I have laready taken care of discus before but I was a bit unlucky then. After a bout with Flowerhorns I decided to go back to discus. I just got a pair of Torqs and a pair of Pigeon bloods. I want to add a few more as I have a 50 galon tank.
Are there any breeders/sellers in the Alabang or Paranaque areas.

Good Day to all Water Changer. I'm Nestor A. Arellano Jr.aka rotsen. Now I can join here na. Before, I'm hesitant to join here, kasi hindi ko alam mag post. Dati na akong nag alaga ng discus. It all started since my father bought a dozen of Brown Discus that was 1985 more or less. My Father manage to breed them, but keeping the hobby only last for 2 years. when my mother died my father were very depress, I encourage my father na mag alaga uli ng isda just to overcome his depressions. one time in cartimar we saw a blue cobalt discus, my father were very amazed of the blues kasi first time namin makakita, after 15 years ng brown discus. Discus keeping overcomes my father's depression. At that time tandem na kami in discus keeping. From jubiniles We have raised 10 breeders. There was a time na lahat ng breeders namin may mga fries. All of this were not that easy puro trial and error kami not like today, na maraming expert na tumutulong lalo na sa mga newbies. I would like to thank Sir Dan, sir Eric at Sir Dxcus alam moba na sila kasi yung taong walang reservation sa pagtulong, pag educate at pag share ng expertise nila in discus keeping just to promote the hobby. back to my nobela. A year before my father die na tigil uli pag alaga namin, I'm into flowerhorn naman, Now after 2 years last april nag start uli ako magalaga ng jubies, up to now. Less than a week ago nag breed n yung BD x Blue Torq. ko. Siguro naman that will prove na talagang Discus Lover ako, di lang yun Addict pa. Diba?

my name is David. i started having discus fishes since pretty much the same month as last year. but i grew up seeing how fishes are raised in ponds and tanks. as my dad and uncle were tropical fish fanciers themselves. i started with goldfishes i bought in chatuchak market in bkk. i took care of them for several years. enjoyed every day i see them in my tanks. since last year with my discus fishes, ive been so fixated at seeing how elegant discus fishes glide thru water and how mindful they are of their co inhabitants as well! i have one concern though. i dunno the strains that i have. i have some pics and pls someone help me? ive taken cared of every specimen when they were just an inch or two in diameter i guess. ive been feeding them tetrabits, beef heart and frozen blood worms in rotation. i want to acquire some pure breed ones but i hope it wont cost me an arm and a leg. hehehe
ps. i have 2 more images to show.

Hi, I'm Edwin Resultay aka Discus Keeper from Tandang Sora, Q.C. I have been a Discus Keeper
years ago. Was able to breed them and made lot's of friends thru ASAP ( Aquarium Science
Asso. of the Phils. where me and my brother became active members.) I shifted to german sheperd dogs. In a few years that the Discus was not a part of my family, I realized that there's something missing, there was a vacuum. As they say, once a Discus Keeper will always be a Discus Lover. So, last 13 Oct.I made my move and got some juvs from Mr. Eric Tiu together with my elder brother. I can say that the juvs are stable and I tell you that they have an enormous appetite. 30% H2O change daily as advised by Mr. Tiu is practiced. It's my pleasure to be a part of the group and looking forward to the next EB. And to Mr. Tiu, thank you for entrusting some of your juvs to me and my brother.

Hi Daniel. you're perfectly right that addiction the 2nd time around is worst. After the 1st batch of juveniles from Mr. Tiu, I am already thinking of buying additional juveniles. At present, I have 2= 75gals, by next week it will be 3=75gals. until my studio is filled with aquarium. I agree that I was lucky to have met Mr. Tiu on my return bout with discus and also thankful that he gave me this website wherein there's a lot of useful information and where I can discover new friends.

Hi! My name is also Teng. Teng Resultay, brother of Edwin Resultay aka discus keeper. My fish keeping days began when I was just a kid. I began with mollies, swordtails, guppies and golfish. Then when the cichlid craze bit me, I started breeding salvinis, green terrors, red jewels and albino convicts. I shifted to bird breeding and dogs, when water pressure here in my place had become erratic. But after reading an article on Mr. Eric Tiu on Pets Unltd., my love for discus was once again stimulated, my jaws dropped upon seeing pictures of Mr. Eric Tiu's discus.
To make the long story short, my brother and I bought some juvys from Sir Eric. And we're now officially in the loop again!
Thanks to Sir Eric for being supportive to guys like us! may your tribe increase! More power!

I think corydoras are compatible tankmates with discus. However, I believe Tiger barbs are aggresive fish and I havent tried placing them together with any discus.

hi everyone. i am pretty new here and also recently got into fish keeping again after several years of being out of the hobby. i am into discus now in a semi-planted community tank (with corydoras, blue ram, tetras, clown and polka dot loaches), several 'nano' tanks (lobsters, kuhli loaches and guppies, uarus) and a batya pond for my ranchus in a span of two to three months. i hope to learn more and share my experiences about discus as it was never among my specialties although i had two brown ones in the 90s. see you around and will soon post my tank.

My first tank is 100cm. ang laman po ay cichlids(mostly african). 2nd tank is 120cm. nag marine naman po ako mostly damnsel fishes at clown w/ anemone. 3rd tank is 120cm. arowana(silver) w/ frontosa. 4th tank is 60cm. flower horn naman, during this days thats the time na nameet ko si master Macky"discusdubai" sya ang nag introduce sakin sa Discus keeping. Salamat pareng Macky ! Sya din ang nag introduce sa amin sa PALHS, thats the time nakita ko ang mga Discus collections ni sir Eric at sir Dan, "Wow ang lulupet" ang una kong nasabi. Sila ang nagsilbing inspirasyon namin dito sa Discus keeping till this day.
We never giving up sa Discus keeping.
Salamat po sa supports PDS sa aming(dubaiboyz)
More Power!

mga master pasensya na po kayo sa pictures gusto ko lang po ishare. gumawa kasi po ako ng breeding tank ko for the future and i use a diy trickle filter, with sponge filter and bioballs, i also use a normal food container for the canister and a two one inch pvc pipe and check valve para macontrol ko *** flow ng water. the ph seems to stable in around 6.5 up to 6.8. ok na po ba yun

1) Name Hello! It's been a long time since I've sat down in front of a computer typing away in a forum. I used to be with dog-trackers - of paws. Now here I am at PAHLS, all about fins. Well, I am Syokoy, si Chockoy nagdive naging syokoy pag ahon. I used to operate Chockoy's Pets, the cafe for dogs. So you could actually call me either way ... Syokoy or Chockoy.
2) Location (city and country) Quezon City, Philippines or Surrey Canada
3) Age Going to be half a century December of this year
4) Male or Female? Both
5) Married with children? Committed & 1 kid
6) What do you do? Student or Profession? Forced to retire, presently just a hobbyist with no income
7) How long have you been keeping fish? A little over a year
8) How did you start in fishkeeping? My daughter
9) What kind of fishes do you keep? Almost all freshwater that's at the Manila Ocean Park but they all went with Ondoy
10) What is your favorite ornamental fish and why? Plecos and corydoras because they make me smile when they look at me with their eyes, I think they're funny; Loaches also because they are very entertaining to watch especially when they start falling asleep; Goldfish because they're so good to feed and they like to play with my hands when I'm cleaning the tanks; Discus because of the way they look and how they take care of their babies; Arowana because of the way they move; Flowerhorn because I am curious as to how big their head can grow; The family of silver dollars because they are skiddish ergo a challenge to train; Elephant noses and pufferfish because they're very smart; Pearl gourami because they are pretty; Monosabae and Mono-angel because I found them easier to take care of than Angel fishes; Electric catfish because of the body shape and so with the dragonfins; Sting Rays because they reminded me the first time I saw a Manta Ray in a dive trip in Tubbataha; Butterfly fish because you can hand feed them; African Lungfish because they look so primitive; Bettas, Guppies and Neon/Cardinal Tetras because of their colors, I also like the way they school which reminds me of the fishes in the ocean; African Glass Fishes because like the tetras and silver dollars, they school; Eels and Knife fishes because of their movement, they remind me of the Spanish Dancer at see ... I like fish!
11) How many tanks do you have? I stopped counting when I hit 80 tanks
12) How did you know about mypalhs.com? Through google, searching for pictures of fishes that just arrived
13) Do you know any member in PALHS? Probably
14) What pet shops do you frequently visit? Zealous, Sam's Lagoon, Heavenly Fish, A1 Pet Station, Metro-Pet, Pet City and the one along Roosevelt Avenue
15) Other interests or hobbies? Dogs, Photography and Video-land & underwater, Scuba Diving, Eating, Painting, Music, Computers and Technology, Watching TV Series, My daughter
And yes, I am into Discus. I lost 95% of my fish collection to Ondoy but luckily, only about 60% of my discuss perished. So now 80% of my tanks are all with discus. It's about time anyways since they started pairing and laying eggs :)

You are in the wrong thread elemix, I hope our mod can move your post. We would like to see your set up first. What is the size difference of your small discus from the large ones? Regarding your question, it is best to seperate the small ones from the big ones. Your smaller discus may get bullied during feeding. Alternate your feeding with beef heart mix or frozen blood worms.
