uy girl ako ha
Am not too experienced with Goldfish temperament. But some hobbyists have mentioned that the Ryukins are the most agressiveamong the Gf species. Well, the Orandas and the Ryukins grow the biggest and fastest too. So I guess it would be safe to assume that they can be more agressive than the rest too.
The case of your oranda chowing down on your ranchu could be possible because of the size difference or maybe even the appetite. As you well know Gfs are voracious eaters. So if it hasn't had enough food, it may have thought that the ranchu could be a meal in itself.
As for Gfs with tankmates, bala sharks and angelfish while they're still small. These 2 fishes are what keeps external parasites away from your GF's body. I really wouldn't recommend swordtails as they can get agressive over time. The Rainbow and Albino rainbow shark as tankmates I already tried almost 2 decades ago. Its like killing your Gf slowly. They will pick and pick and pick on your Gf until its too stressed out and weakened and will just die.

Rainbow and albino? No. First rainbow and albino playing turn on each other. I dies. So that when remaining shark goes after the goldfish. Also see the swimming speed the rainbow and albino? Some gf are slowly to downright clumsy.
Re: Angelfish buy small. There are fatter and thinner angels. Buy only 1 and hope its male.
Get the thinner one. If its female its gonna lays eggs and attack goldfish. Be prepared to return angel to petshop.
Hence gf tanks only and discus tanks only. Sorry.

what's the best medicine for fishes which has a mixture of both fin rot and ich disease?

currently, i have a panda moor, 2 orandas, and a black ranchu in a 15g tank. the first 3 are about 2.5 inches or longer while the ranchu is about 1.75 inches. they seem to be getting along fine though the panda occassionally picks on the 2 orandas. the ranchu has its moments of being makulit as well.
anyway, i was thinking of moving the ranchu to a 10g tank and getting a couple of pingpongs to keep it company. will they make good tankmates?

...or other than a pingpong, what other GFs can i consider for a 10g to keep the ranchu company... the ones that don't grow as quick and as big as the oranda and panda moor?

He picks the very BEST ingredients.
