4ft ohf, no co2 injection, ocean free 4ft 2 x 40watts FL lights switch on 10 hours a day

medyo masikip na nga...moving soon to a 5x2x2, ulit na naman ng scaping and will let the plants thrive muna before moving in the fishes...

discus has been there for more than 6 mos...the aro then was just 4"....

hindi ba magiging overcrowded yan? iyung green arow ko solo sa 100gal tank w/ janitor. pagtignan ko *** parang tamad lumangoy. kung may budget lang ako papagawa ako ng 400gal
ganda setup bro! san ka nakabili ng plants? pwede pala kasama ng aro ang discus, walang aggression?
kay angel/fishyguy, market market supermarket pet section, cartimar... minsan hinaharass nya discus but nothing fatal and no injury so far...they been together for more than 6 mos na...

once a week water change, around 20% only...
except for the hair grass that's gone, most of the plants here (anubias, amazon swords, and other cartimar plants i have no idea what theyre called) have been in this tank for months since i got my aro last july 2
i didnt even have to deal with algae until just about 4 weeks ago...the algae is starting to go away already...

pag natuto na ko mag diy ng co2...kaka experiment ko pa lang...tignan ko kung mag bubble yung co2, then pwede ko na i carpet...namatay lang dati hair grass ko eh...

ok na yung diy co2 ko last night...nag may lumalabas ng bubbles sa tank...observe ko na lang muna... pag nalipat ko na sa mas malaking tank yung aro...next proj yung pressurized co2
lupit ng set up mo bro...hehehe... kaso baka masikipan aro mo...
nasikipan na nga yata...nag wa wala since yesterday... drop a few scales and scraped yung skin sa head...

yup...kaya di ako pumasok today eh... all other fishes seems normal except for the aro...di kumakain...either its the co2 or it must have hurt itself... there is lots of water agitation coming from the ohf and the other outlet of the submersible pump...so i dont think its the co2...plus i have an airstone running when lights is off. but will observe pa rin...
i also added moss from carti this morning, medyo mabaho eh...baka yun...will do WC tom...

Once lang ako nakapag-alaga ng discus (6 months lang, discus fry) pero impression ko mahirap pagsabayin ang planted tank at discus dahil sa mataas na water at high protein diet requirements ng discus. Sa natural environment ng discus, wala yata gaanong plants at driftwood at roots lang ang taguan nila. Di rin yata nila gusto ang tindi ng liwanag ng kailangan ng mga halaman. At tulad ng sabi ni Papillon, delikado yata sa kanila ang fluctuating pH mula sa DIY CO2 feed. Pero me mga nakita na ako sa internet na set-ups na mukhang at home na at home ang discus sa planted tank.
Pero, arowana sa planted tank...now that's different!

sana you should have quaratine the java moss before putting in your tank baka... ma apectohan (magkasakit) fish or plants mo.:mellow:

yup...will do so in the future...always excited putting in new plants and see how they look :D
medyo kinabahan ako today...i didnt know brownout sa min for almost 7 hours, no tank light, no pump, no surface agitation and co2 continuously injected into the tank!!!
came home everything ok naman... all fishes accounted for, active and feeding...:)

Thats the beauty of having plants in the tank... even CO2 is continously on, yan kung tawagin eh balance! recently i also encountered a 8-5 brown out 2 days in a row so far no casualties encountered sa fishes and shrimps

Thats the beauty of having plants in the tank... even CO2 is continously on, yan kung tawagin eh balance! recently i also encountered a 8-5 brown out 2 days in a row so far no casualties encountered sa fishes and shrimps

selection of hardy, low light plants lang...and trial and error on the type of plants na di titirahin ng flagtail, sexfa and clown loach... :)

Uyyy!! Pupwede ito rep ng PALHS.. :D kulang na lang is FHs.. hehehe.. malaking risk ang tinahak mo dito sir.. di po ba nacompromise ang water quality dahil sa plants? d kasi gaano ma vacuum ang substrate.. siguro, my secreto ka sa filtration.. share mo naman.. ^_^

This is a very nice setup. I hope to see some upgrade. I just started keeping a low tech planted jardini same as yours with out CO2 injector and I am still experimenting which plant would grow in my tank, for background, midground and foreground. I hope to hear from some experts or experienced planters out there for suggestions. Please see my Planted jardini.
