Any body can share kok development secrets...like having another LH in a divided tank for sparing against your male LH upon...protein rich food like SW and MW...those things...How about putting a mirror in the water to reflect the LH's own....?

I believe this totally depends on the genes. But if proper water management is maintained it is possible to produce a large kok.

BTW, anybody know where I can buy sodium bicarbonate? *I'm experimenting on my LH, will explain soon. *;D ;D

Pre, sodium bicarbonate should be available in supermarkets. *That's the main ingredient of baking powder BUT most of them also contain ammonium bicarbonate which may be toxic to your fish. *Go to the baking section and look for pure sodium bicarbonate. *Check mo ingredients. *Try mo rin Mercury drug.

Balak mo taasan pH?

Pre, go to the Asia Food Expo sa World Trade Center next week. *There would be a LOT of suppliers of sodium bicarbonate. *Baka makahingi ka ng free sample. *Sabihin mo na lang may maliit kang bakery.

If my chemistry memory serves me right, think sodium bicarbonate is pure baking soda in leymans laguange. check it out.

Pre, try mo na lang beach corals/shells bought from a landscaper/garden shop. What you just do is sanitize it with lots of salt and let it sit in a tub of water...just stir it while its sitting do it about two times until water clears..its best that you sit it out for 2 days before you actually put it in the filter box or dump it in the tank as substrate. *

Did that na pre, still 7.0 pH. *Placed the coral in filter box, ayaw ko as substrate dangerous for fish baka masugatan. I'm just experimenting with a couple of LH though.

Wow talaga? what was your PH before you added the corals/shells? Ag tindi nung ph lowering agents ng tank mo ha....how much you change water ba and how often? Kasi ammonia and nitrites also lower PH....while your corals only did buffering action not increasing the PH....

I do 30% water changes 2 to 3 times a week. *I have my secrets din to maintain a pH level of 6.7 or 6.8 pH....just wanted to see what would happen to LH pag mababa ang pH. :P

mga pare, tingin ko effective yung corals for raising the ph. Kasi i have a male fh in a 100gals tank(kasama nya mga fronts)ang bilis mag kok, kala ko dahil mas malaki *** tank nya and territory. Baka *** corals ang pampalaki ng kok. Tingin nyo? Puro crushed corals kasi ang substrate ko e.

pH plays a very important part in LH development both for the nunchal hump & body colour. *:)

I also use a mix of brown pebbles, corals, and zeolithe chips as substrate for my LH and other cichlids they do really great.... *

Hi Welcome to the forum!!! pH is the softness or hardness of your water. *When it comes to LH there is a debate, some say that if your pH is low the color of your fish will standout, if your pH is high the kok will grow big. We Since I guess your also from manila we have a uniform ph level of 7.0. *We don't really have to worry to much about pH 'cause our water is pretty suited for fish keeping.
For me, my ph level as of now is 7.6, I increased it using sodium bicarbonate. *Since your new to fish keeping I wouldn't try this method without supervision from an experienced fish keeper. *If you want to increase your pH add coral chips, if you want to lower your pH use peatmoss. *Be sure to have a pH tester on hand. *

Hi!

We only recommend for the mean time Sams Lagoon at Banawe cor. Retiro and Aquaticare at Don Egea St., near New York St., Cubao both in Q.C.

We don't allow anybody to post petshops name here. We will post a list of pet shops in the near future. The petshop will be only be listed if they gave discounts to PALHS members. So, as of today, we only recommend Sams and Aquaticare coz they already giving discounts to PALHS members. Hope you understand...

But I'm sure when you visit these petshops specially Sams, you'll be happy with those beautiful LH they are selling.

Good Luck!

Re the mirror... *I read in one of the LH sites that it serves as an illution that there is another LH beside it/him/her, that may induce the kok to come out. *Can anyone conccur?(tama ba spelling?) :-/ *I just have a Queston...? *If I have a couple of LH in one tank w/ dividers, will it be the same as having a mirror??? ???
